Have you ever noticed how just about every furniture and home decor shop fall into just a few narrow categories?

Adorn is a retail showroom*.  We don't have a bunch of stuff sitting in the back room waiting to be adopted - we have samples and experience with all of our vendors, so you come in, by appointment, and we help you determine what would be the best fit for your needs. We then order those items specifically for you.

We have just enough on the floor to demonstrate the quality you can expect from each vendor, not an example of everything we can sell.

libeco linen

Linen is a super strong fabric made from the flax plant (yes - that one, the same one flax seeds come from)

It can absorb up to 20% of its weight in moisture before it feels damp, and easily releases moisture to the air to remain cool and dry to the touch. Flax remains colorfast and launders beautifully. It has the additional advantage to be non-allergenic. Paired with down pillows and comforter it's the most comfortable bed I've ever slept in.

We also sell furniture and we love upholstery!

As a designer, I've noticed the quality and selection of upholstered furniture available to the public has really declined. In an effort to make things increasingly less expensive compromises are made to effect the price that nets a product that doesn't last very long, and isn't really all that comfortable.

Because the quality is generally so poor, people also want to sit in the exact sofa they will end up with -  - and what that means is that there is a real homogenization happening in the home furnishings sector.

Can you really tell the difference between a Crate and Barrel, Pottery Barn and Room and Board sofa? (if your eyes are closed you can't - they are identical as those three companies buy their sofas from the SAME FACTORIES). Companies that used to produce in the US now have the wood frames imported from China - and they keep very inexpensive fabric to use. Most furniture is assembled, not built.

We do things differently at Adorn.

We resource from small boutique furniture makers. We have searched for manufacturers who do things the way we think they should be done, impeccably, but without anything that is un-necessary.

upholsterer at work

We know where to go to have things made - and you have never heard of these places. They don't have $30 million catalogues or large stores to maintain - they just build furniture the way it is supposed to be built. It is absolutely the best way to buy a piece of upholstered furniture. Earl has been putting springs in sofas and chairs for 47 years, Jobi's father and grandfather were also upholsterers. Laura's father owned the company before she took it over a few years ago. These are real people who take pride in their work - just like I do - just like you do.

Curation is a popular word these days, for good reason. We live in a world of so many options it's almost impossible to see everything - and why should you? We have spent countless hours looking through an unimaginable number of product lines to bring our favorites to you so you dont' have to.

If our sign is out front - you are welcome to come in, but we recommend an appointment. There is so much to see here. Bring photos from your house and we will help you find what is right for you.
