It’s been a long journey to this shop.
I started out in the design business as a decorative painter back in the late 1980s and early 1990s - when sponge painting was all the rage. It was a lot of fun for a while. Back then, wallpaper was considered to be sort of stodgy - for old people - not for people who were cool, and certainly not for me. I had my nose in the air about it for quite a long time.
Eventually I stopped climbing ladders for a living and started designing residential projects for clients. Part of a designer’s job is to become as familiar as possible with what’s out there and so I spent hours and hours exploring shops, reading magazines and surfing online.
There were a few things that were actually difficult to find, a really great place to buy wallpaper and a really great place to buy bedding. In my search to find vendors I really loved it occurred to me that if I want it, others might want it to. - and Adorn was born.
I found a sweet little storefront in Seattle’s Phinney Ridge neighborhood. It’s only 10 minutes from my house, it’s adorable and I love it….. but reaching out to only those who would come in just didn’t feel like enough - thus, this website.
I’ve connected with so many wonderful vendors and I can’t wait to share what I’ve found.
I hope you enjoy this collection as much as I’ve enjoyed resourcing it for you. I hope it inspires you to have fun with your house and live in beauty. Life is short. Art is long.
